Child Protection Policy

Proscenium Stage School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who attend our classes, workshops, and events. We believe that children have the right to develop and learn in a safe and supportive environment.
1. Our Responsibilities
We are committed to ensuring that:
- All children and young people are protected from harm, abuse, and neglect.
- All staff understand their responsibilities in safeguarding children.
- Appropriate procedures are in place to report concerns or incidents.
2. Safeguarding Lead
Our designated Child Protection Officer (CPO) is the first point of contact for any concerns regarding child safety.

3. Staff Vetting
All staff and volunteers working with children at Proscenium Stage School are:
- PVG-checked (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme in Scotland)
- Given safeguarding training
- Expected to follow our Code of Conduct at all times
4. Reporting Concerns
Any concerns about a child’s welfare should be reported immediately to our Child Protection Officer. We will respond appropriately in line with local authority procedures and Scottish child protection guidelines.
5. Safe Environment
- We maintain a safe physical environment during all classes and events.
- All activities are age-appropriate and supervised by qualified staff.
- We follow appropriate adult-to-child supervision ratios at all times.
6. Communication with Parents
We maintain open communication with parents and carers. If we have any concerns, we will contact you unless doing so would put the child at further risk.
7. Review of Policy
This policy is reviewed annually or whenever significant changes occur in safeguarding legislation.
